Bert was the son of William Louis Grider and Martha Elizabeth Deck. He married Lula Viola Lankford in 1902 in Harwood, Champaign, Illinois. They were the parents of Everett, Goldie, Lloyd, Edna, Raymond, and Eugene. Bert married Anna between 1930 and 1940.
