William married Temperance Benjamin in 1832 at Berne, Albany, NY. They were the parents of eight children: Henry, Isaac, Zina, Lewis, William J., Mary, Franklin B., and Elida Spawn. Henry, Lewis and William served in the Union Army during the Civil War.
