Joseph Manley Waterman was born Sept. 16, 1845 at Hanover, Vermont and died May 22, 1906 near Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. He married Margaret Ann Van Reenan Mar. 8, 1869 at Round Grove, Scott Co., Iowa. His obituary gives the marriage date as Mar. 5, 1869. He enlisted in Co. A, 35th Iowa Volunteer Infantry Regiment Aug. 29, 1862 and was mustered out June 8, 1865 at Chattanooga, Tennessee. Source: Roster & Record of Iowa Soldiers in the War of Rebellion.
