Townsend Roe Jones, son of Hiram Jones and Susan Van Voorhis, was born Jan. 10, 1840 near Bucyrus, Crawford Co., Ohio and died June 16, 1933 in Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. He married Sarah Jane Bates Aug. 23, 1866 at Oceola, Crawford Co., Ohio. He enlisted in Co. B, 43rd Ohio Infantry Regiment Dec. 10, 1861 and was mustered out Dec. 19, 1864.
