William Haller or Heller was born Nov. 23, 1838 near Easton, Northampton Co., Pennsylvania and died Feb. 11, 1892 near Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. He married Ruth Ann Chaney July 5, 1865 in Bureau Co., Illinois. Although the last name is spelled Heller on his military headstone the name is spelled Haller on his family headstone and also other members of the family. Birth date calculated using Tombstone calculator. He enlisted in Co. B, 57th Illinois Infantry Regiment Dec. 26, 1861 and was mustered out Dec. 27, 1864.
