John Townsend Fitch was born Dec. 10, 1842 in Maryland and died Dec. 24, 1900 in Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. He married Sarah Jane Bray April 18, 1866 in Jefferson Co., Iowa. He enlisted in Co. D, 17th Iowa Infantry Regiment Mar. 27, 1862 and was mustered out April 15, 1865 at Davenport, Scott Co., Iowa. Source: Roster & Record of Iowa Soldiers in the War of Rebellion
