James S. Evans, son of Thomas Washington Evans and Harriet Elizabeth Allen, was born June 24, 1842 in Hendrix Co., Indiana and died Dec. 27, 1915 in Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. He married Martha Melvina Maize July 21, 1864 in Schuyler Co., Missouri. She was born Jan. 27, 1851 near Lancaster, Schuyler Co., Missouri, daughter of Robert Johnson Maize and Louisa Rigsby, and died May 28, 1920 in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois.
