Ruth Cresap Singleton, daughter of John Thomas Singleton and Mary Jane Cresap, was born Aug. 22, 1834 in Hampshire Co., Virginia (now West Virginia) and died Sept. 19, 1910 near Sharpsburg, Taylor Co., Iowa. She married Elias William Jones Jan. 19, 1857 in Johnson Co., Iowa.
