John O. Gardner, son of Davidson Gardner and Aletha or Eletha Griffin, was born June 16, 1840 in Dowagiac, Cass Co., Michigan and died Nov. 9, 1916 in Sharpsburg, Taylor Co., Iowa. He married 1) Lucretia Hill Mar. 4, 1870 in Louisa Co., Iowa and 2) Mary Lucy Smith Dec. 12, 1900 at Corning, Adams Co., Iowa. She was born Feb. 23, 1876 at Brooks, Adams Co., Iowa, daughter of Rufus Smith and Florence Hastings, and died Oct. 24, 1949 in Taylor Co., Iowa.
