James Samuel Copeland, son of Allen Wiley Copeland and Ann Maria Atkinson, was born Dec. 23,1864 in Madison, Jefferson Co., Indiana and died Mar. 28, 1940 in Hutchinson, Reno Co., Kansas. He married Grace Isabella Smith Mar. 12, 1895 at Sharpsburg, Taylor Co., Iowa.
