Daniel was the son of Patrick Morgan (1811 - 1891) & Mary Kinley (1824 - 1915). He married Mary Kirk on October 18, 1882. They were the parents of Agnes, Mary, John, Francis, and a child who died in infancy.

Death was due to blood poisoning, brought on by a splinter which lodged in her hand when she was putting kindling into the stove.
