James Salter, son of James Salter and Susan Trail, was born Sept. 3, 1876 near Aberdeen, Scotland and died Oct. 23, 1941 in Oakdale, Johnson Co., Iowa. He married 1) Mary Jane Battisby June 27, 1904 at Toronto, Canada and 2) Gertrude Denton Jan. 21, 1911 at Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. See separate entry under his name for a photo of the family plot.
