Ludwig Schmidt was the youngest living son of J.F.C. and Margaretha Schmidt. He was born in Revensdorf, Schleswig-Holstein. His family came to Scott County in 1847. He went back to Germany in 1865 and married his cousin Dorothea Schuett. He died probably of diptheria at his farm in Blue Grass Twp.
