Came to Iowa in 1857 settled near Marion
First postmaster at West Prairie

8 children: Joseph, Lewis, Benjamin, Clarence, Silas, Julia, Mary, Mrs. Wilson Carpenter, Mrs. A. Washburn and Mrs. W. H. Pearsall

Married June 12, 1839 Miss Sally Devol at Beverly

Joseph died Union Army in 1863 in New Orleans, LA
