Fred was the son of Herman Behnemann and Elizabeth Meyer. He married Emma Schrader on 5 Dec 1895 in Washington Twp, Carroll county, Iowa. They were the parents of Loretta, Herman, Alfred, Elmer, and Arthur. He married 2nd Lizzie Lussman on June 24, 1933.
