John Slater Shearer, son of Daniel Shearer and Mary Jane Huff, was born Mar. 1, 1859 in Ohio and died April 23, 1905 in Gay Twp., Taylor Co., Iowa. He married Elizabeth Jane Eaton Jan. 23, 1883 in Ringgold Co., Iowa. She was born Oct. 28, 1862 in Ringgold Co., Iowa, daughter of Samuel Eaton and Martha A. Wisdom, and died July 16, 1945 in Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa.
