Jennie was the daughter of Ogden Sylvanus Willey and Jennie L. Smith. She married Charles Helmer on May 15, 1905 at Keokuk, Iowa. They were the parents of 6 children: Charles, Gertrude, Jane, Orlando, James, and Paul.
