Bertha Ellen Newell, daughter of Thornton Thomas Newell and Mary Ellen Plummer, was born Mar. 13, 1887 at Eddyville, Iowa and died Mar.16, 1915 in St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., Missouri. She married Oren Lester Atkins Sept. 23, 1908 in Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa.
