Haskell Avitt, son of Andrew Avitt and Lovease Bruner, was born Jan. 20, 1836 in Breckinridge Co., Kentucky and died Dec. 11, 1881 near Conway, Taylor Co., Iowa. He married Samantha Engle Nov. 26, 1871 in Nodaway Co., Missouri.
