Joseph was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Collison. In Illinois he married in 1874 to Miss Anna Wolfe. they were the parents of 9 children: Arthur, William, John, Joseph, Dan, Fred, Mary, Maurice, and Frank. they also raised a niece, Anna Wolfe. Joseph was a successful farmer.
