Note: This headstone is now virtually illegible to read in person. It actually shows up better in the photograph than it was to read it in person.

Alice Rachel Whitaker Lathrop
As engraved:
DOB 1863
DOD 1917
Other sources:
DOB May 9, 1863
Obituary DOB May 9, 1862
DOD January 1919
(the exact DOD is uncertain; previous sources used January 15, 1919. However, her obituary published on January 17, 1919 noted that she passed away "last night". That could mean the 16th or even the 17th, depending on interpretation. It is also possible that she did die on the 15th, the obituary submitted on the 16th, but not published until the 17th. For that reason, who knows for sure which specific date is most correct)
Lot 107 E 1/2
Note:
Wife of
Jasper Lathrop
(his exact burial location is uncertain at best; the obituaries for both Alice and Jasper indicated burial in "Evergreen cemetery". Alice, however, is actually in Old Fairfield City cemetery. There is a possiblity that Jasper, who died on March 5, 1944, was buried beside Alice in this plot in an unmarked grave. Evergreen cemetery records do not have his burial recorded there. Unless a burial permit is found for Old Fairfield City cemetery, his exact burial location is uncertain)
