James Alexander Evans, son of John Evans and Catherine Bristow, was born in Sept. 1847 in Covington, Fountain Co., Indiana and died Dec. 26, 1924 at Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. He married 1) Martha Jane Lewis, Nov. 8, 1870 in Taylor Co., Iowa and 2) Etta Belle Craig Mar. 16, 1882 at Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. She was born in Feb 1860 at Millersburg, Mercer Co., Illinois, daughter of Charles Craig and Mary Morgan, and died April 1, 1941 at Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa.
