James D. Lewis, son of Samuel Lewis and Keziah McDaniel, was born about 1811 in Kentucky and died July 6, 1894 at Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. Death records, Taylor County Courthouse, Bedford, Iowa, give his age at death as 75 y, 2 m, 17 d which if correct would place his birth date as April 19, 1819 (calculated using Tombstone calculator based on age at death)and his birth place as Kentucky. He married Emeline Goodwin July 13, 1851 in Putnam Co., Indiana. She was born Sept. 28, 1832 in Adams Co. Ohio, daughter of Francis Goodwin, Jr. and Sarah Greathouse, and died April 27, 1902 at Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri. Source of birth place: Ohio reunion, Bedford Free Press, Oct. 3, 1895.
