James Elliott Hopson, son of Linus Hopson and Sallie Elliott, was born Dec. 4, 1831 near Mayville, Chautauqua Co., New York and died Oct.15, 1912 at Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. He married 1) Margaret Coonan, Mar. 10, 1853 at Wellsville, Allegany Co., New York and 2) Jane E. Phelps in 1865 in Chautauqua Co., New York who died Feb. 18, 1874 and 3) Lydia Sophia Honeysett in 1875 in Chautauqua Co., New York, who survived him.
