Irwin Claire Welch, son of Merritt Welch and Rachel Hobbs, was born Feb. 17, 1859 in Henry Co., Iowa, and died Jan. 21, 1942 at Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. He married Margaret Jane Black Mar. 11, 1886 at Trenton, Henry Co., Iowa. She was born Dec. 6, 1864 near Trenton, Henry Co., Iowa, daughter of Elijah Elias Black and Elizabeth Jane Traxler, and died July 11, 1938 east of Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. Her obituary gives her birth date as 1865.
