James Dorsey Maxwell was born in Morgan Co., Indiana, the son of William Maxwell and Letitia "Letty" Manley, and died May 17, 1923 near Braddyville, Buchanan Twp., Page Co., Iowa. He marred Jane Townsend May 28, 1876 in Andrew Co., Missouri. She was born Jan. 2, 1853 in Andrew Co., Missouri, daughter of Ellison Townsend and Catharine Zimmerman, and died July 8, 1911 near Braddyville, Page Co., Iowa.
