James Smith Francis, son of Alfred Crittenden Francis and Georgina Jane Davidson, was born Sept. 27, 1873 near Kent, Union Co., Iowa and died Aug. 8, 1949 in Gravity, Taylor Co., Iowa. He married Mary Ella Coan Aug. 1, 1906 at Gravity, Taylor Co., Iowa.
