Emma Mary Johnston, daughter of Emerson Jefferson Johnston and Mary Catherine Richardson, was born Sept. 12, 1896 in Holt Twp., north of Gravity, Taylor Co., Iowa and died July 15, 1983 in Clarinda, Page Co., Iowa. She married Clarence Monroe Downey May 27, 1914 in Taylor Co., Iowa. He was born Mar. 24, 1889 in Chuckey, Greene Co., Tennessee, son of William Sidney Downey and Martha Jane Bailey, and died May 2, 1966 in Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa.
