George Lemuel Brookman, son of Henry Brookman, was born Nov. 22, 1842 in Hartford Co., Maryland and died Mar. 20, 1934 in Gravity, Taylor Co., Iowa. He married Ella Mathilda Churchill Feb. 10, 1880. He enlisted June 6, 1862 in Co. C, 70th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, was discharged Oct. 23, 1862 and again enlisted in Co. H, 143rd Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He was discharged Sept. 26, 1864.
