George Franklin Shanks, son of Abijah Milburn Shanks and Mary Ann Pickering, was born Feb. 22, 1884 near Limestone, Washington Co., Tennessee and died Dec. 11, 1931 in Page Co., Iowa. He married Mary Isabel Kirby Dec. 2, 1914 at Gravity, Taylor Co., Iowa.
