Clara Frances Wire, daughter of William Wire and Caroline Finecham, was born Sept. 19, 1878 in Van Buren Co., Iowa and died Aug. 17, 1958 in Gravity, Taylor Co., Iowa. She married Elmer Franklin Downing Dec. 19, 1906 at Ottumwa, Wapello Co., Iowa. He was born Mar. 10, 1880 in Taylor Co., Iowa, son of Christopher Columbus Downing and Rebecca Ellen McNair, and died May 2, 1958 in Iowa City, Johnson Co., Iowa.
