James Monahan, son of Terns Monahan and Nancy Bateman, was born July 7, 1830 in Terre Haute, Vigo Co., Indiana and died Oct. 4, 1916 in Villisca, Montgomery Co., Iowa. He married Sarah Walker Feb. 13, 1851 in Washington Co., Indiana. She was born Mar. 17, 1833 near Salem, Washington Co., Indiana, daughter of Aaron Walker and Sarah Lemon Gould, and died Mar. 23, 1914 in Gravity, Taylor Co., Iowa.
