Roy R. Morris 1882-1959

Roy was born 1 Feb 1882 Wayne Co., Iowa, probably in Union township. He was the youngest of three children of James W. Morris and America Bercaw. His siblings: Lida Lenora and Charles Stewart.
In 1927, at the age of 44, Roy married Alpha Leona (May) Sumpter, a 25-year-old widow and daughter of William Samuel May and Bettie Ann Bachman. She brought her son, Clyde, to the marriage. She and Roy had one child, Dean W., who died at the age of 7 in 1940.
The couple lived in Corydon and Bethlehem and in addition to farming, Roy was also a house painter. Roy and Alpha must have divorced as Alpha moved to Grinnell in 1943 and remarried in 1950.
Roy is buried in a row with his mother, father and son.
