Myrtle A. George Morris
Jan. 1, 1876
Apr. 1, 1901
Row 20, #14
---------------
Myrtle was born 1 Jan 1876 in Bethlehem township, Wayne Co., Iowa the eldest of 10 children of Richard M. George and his 2nd wife, Emma Elizabeth Hancock. Siblings: Mary Estella, Thomas Edward, James Theodore, Rosa Agnes, Albert Richard, Harmon Everett, Margaret Nancy, Rachel Martha and Arleigh Lee. She had three older half siblings: Cora Mae, Ella and William.
On 22 Aug 1894, Myrtle married Charles Stewart Morris, son of James W. Morris and America Jane Bercaw at Corydon, Iowa.
In the 1895 census they are living in Union township with newborn Hazel. In the 1900 census, the family is still living in Union (though birth records show that Stewart b 1896 and Pearl b 1897 were born in Wright township.) In this census Myrtle states she has given birth to three children they are: Hazel 5, Stewart 4 and Harvey 2. (Though the enumerator's handwriting is clear, further research seems to suggest that 'Harvey' is actually Pearl.) In addition, records show that on 17 Nov 1900, Myrtle gave birth to a fourth child, George, in Bethlehem township.
Despite the headstone, Iowa records indicate that Myrtle died on April 2, 1901.
She is buried between her son Stewart who died in 1908 and her husband.
