Cecile P. Edgerly , 84, died Friday, April 8, 2005, in Fleur Heights Care Center, Des Moines, where she resided. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Central City. Cecile 's body was donated to the University of Iowa, as was her wish.
Cecile was born in Burrillville, R.I., on June 30, 1920, to William and Corona Pelletier. On Oct. 21, 1944, she married Mitchell Edgerly and following the war moved to Central City. After retirement, they moved to Mount Ida, Ark., until 1992, when they came to Des Moines.
Cecile worked as a social worker in the 1970s for Hawkeye Area Community Action Program and was involved in community activities as a volunteer while in Arkansas. She worked as a professional tailor before HACAP, and after she retired resumed her work as a seamstress.
She was a member of St. Ambrose Cathedral in Des Moines, AMVETS Auxiliary, and was a Camp Fire leader in Central City. She was interested in education and active in library programs and Parkinson's-related education and research.
Cecile was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mitchell, in 1993; and a son Aaron.
