Mary Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas Thornton White and Elizabeth Palmer. She married Calvin Childs on Nov. 9, 1857 in Huron county, Ohio. They were the parents of 10 children: Lillie, Fannie, Rolla, Myrtle, Arphie, Addie, Clinton, and 2 others.
