He married Hattie Townsend Burgess Jan. 12, 1868 in Henry Co., Illinois. He enlisted in Co. K, 7th Illinois Cavalry Regiment Mar. 2, 1865 and was mustered out Nov. 4, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee.
