Charles was the son of William Merry and Charlotte Ann Rodgers. He married Matilda McFall on 20 Nov 1884 in Platteville, Wisconsin. They were the parents of Clara, George, Jesse, Wallace Ora, Harold, Hazel, Myrtle, Dewey, Thomas, Coralie, and Reid.
