His obituary gives his birth date as June 14, 1828. He married Elizabeth Borland May 20, 1847 in Morgan Co., Illinois. She was born Sept. 25, 1828 in Beith,near Glasgow, Ayrshire, Scotland,and died Dec. 6, 1908 at Gravity, Taylor Co., Iowa. Their son, Wilburn B., was born in Illinois and died Aug. 24, 1892 near Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. Source of death date: Death Records, Taylor County Courthouse, Bedford, Iowa.
