Note: Although the surname spelling on this monument is "Barns", the correct spelling should be "Barnes". The engraving error could easily have been a phonetic mis-spelling of the surname. Subsequent research of this family bears out the "Barnes" surname spelling.

First wife was Sarah "Sallie" Case Barnes; she is buried in Old Fairfield City cemetery.
