Alpharetta (Workman) Earl, 99, of Lake City, died Thursday, October 22, at her home following a lingering illness.
Mrs. Earl was buried in her wedding gown, a handmade, pin-tucked off-white sheer cotton gown, trimmed in lace and fastened with tiny pearl buttons down the entire front. This gown was hand made by Mrs. Kackley in 1907.
Mrs. Earl was born September 13, 1888, in Calhoun County, the daughter of Sanford Merrill and Dora (Sumner) Workman. On December 25, 1908, she and John B. Earl were married at the home of her parents.
She was a life long resident of the Lake City area, and she lived on a farm that was designated a Century Farm.
She is survived by her children Russell S. & Martha.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John Bent Earl in 1948; a brother, William Clay; and two sisters, Orabelle and Rachel.
