The former town of Baden, Iowa, was laid out by Sebastian Striegel in 1856 and was located in the SE corner of German Twp. The first Catholic Church was east across the gravel road in Sec. 31 of Lafayette Twp., where Baden Cemetery is located. In 1872, with the coming of the railroad to within one and a half miles north of Baden, many of the business establishments located at the new town, Harper. In 1883, the Catholic church also located in Harper. Baden Cemetery, which had been opened in 1863 continued to have burials until the early 1900's. Today, all that is left is the Cemetery, with only a few gravestones remaining
Baden Cemetery is located two and one half miles southwest of Harper, Iowa
