The date of death attributed on the monument is incorrect. The first Mrs. Henry Lott (Sally Huntington) died around 1 January 1847. Polk County marriage records show that Henry Lott married his second wife, Jamima McGuire on 14 February 1848. Henry was a notorious character, but no bigamist. This point was raised by C.L. Lucas in his article in the Madrid Register News Vol.29(9):5, Oct.5,1911
