Jennie’s six names--Jennie Daisy Odessa Ruth Lind Jeanette—were thrown into a hat and ultimately given to her in the order in which they were drawn. Jennie chose to use “Ruth” as her middle name.
Third of four children, Jennie was the daughter of John Banks Allum and Rosanna “Rosa” (Farley) Allum, who are also buried at I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Jennie married Mark Agnew Simmons in 1901 and became the mother of five. Two of her children preceded her in death, one as an infant (Maurice Allen Simmons), the other as an adult (Mark Mervin Simmons).
Jennie and Mark’s other children were Ardis Naomi; Robert Veron; and Cedric Earl.
This photo was taken in 1964. Mark Agnew Simmons passed on in 1973.
Jennie was a first cousin of Cal Farley (1895-1967), founder of Cal Farley’s Boys’ Ranch at Amarillo, Texas
