Phife was a Sergeant, Company B, 8th U.S. Cavalry during the Indian Wars, and was awarded the Medal of Honor for action against the Apaches in Arizona Territory during the fall of 1868.

This is a photo of my great Grandfather's gravesite. All of his records and this grave marker have his last name misspelled. It should read Pfeiff. We Pfeiff's never seem to get our name spelled correctly. Thanks for posting this photo!
