Born October 28, 1815, Delaware County, New York. Married Esther Jones in 1836. Three sons were born to their marriage: George, Albert and Richard. Came to the Territory of Iowa on September 1, 1838. Settled in the area known as Copper Creek, occupied by Sac and Fox Indians. Served in the Territorial Convention of 1844. Colonel in the Mexican War 1846-1848. Member of the Iowa Legislature in 1850 and 1851. Departed this life on January 25, 1896, aged 80 years, 2 months, 25 days.
