The Clinton Herald Tuesday May 17, 1910 p. 8 C.H. Ingwersen, president of the Iowa State bank of Lyons and vice president of the Fulton, Ill., bank, and a prominent retired Chicago business man is dead at his home, 3318 Forrest avenue, Chicago. Lyons friends and relatives of the deceased have been informed of his death which occurred Monday evening at 8:30 o'clock. He was 74 years old and his demise was due to a complication of ailments. Mr. Ingwersen was a native of Germany and when a youth of sixteen came to Lyons. He later engaged in farming and stock raising settling near Bryant. He became popular and prosperous as an agriculturalist and amassed a fortune as a result of his energy. In 1869 he was elected sheriff of Clinton county and served in such capacity for two years. In 1870, with his family, he moved to Chicago, where with his brother, he engaged in the live stock commission business. He also prospered in Chicago and two years ago retired from active business life. Surviving the deceased are his wife, two sons, J.H. of Chicago and M.W. of Fulton, Ill., and one daughter, Mrs. E Putthammer also of Chicago. He is further survived by two brothers, N.E. Ingwersen of Lyons, and P.B. Ingwersen of Clinton. Mr. Ingwersen was one of nature's noblemen and a man of honor and integrity and his Clinton friends extend sympathy to his surviving relatives. It has not been learned whether the body will be brought to Lyons for burial, but it is presumed that the interment will be made in Chicago. Later: It has been announced that the funeral will be held in Lyons Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
