Source: The Clinton Herald; April 1, 1944 Claus DUHR, 80, died Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L.C. MATHEWS, 2415 Camanche avenue. The body will repose in the Snell funeral home pending funeral arrangements. Claus DUHR was born Sept. 30, 1863, in Tielen, Schleswig Holstein, Germany. He was married to Catharina RAHN in Germany and the couple came to this country in 1893. He was employed at C. Lamb and Sons and for some time was an employee of the City of Clinton. He had retired for the past several years. He is survived by a son, Claus J. DUHR, a daughter, Mrs. L.C. MATHEWS and a sister, Mrs. Franke BISHOP, all of Clinton. Seventeen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren survive also, and seven grandsons are in the service. Preceding him in death were his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Christine ELLISS, and a son, Jurgen H. DUHR.
