He died Jul 26, 1936 at Montrose, Lee Co, IA. Civil War soldier in Co. I, 17th Iowa Volunteer Infantry. He was wounded at the battle of Jackson, MS, later captured at the Battle of Lookout Mountain and sent first to Belle Isle, then to Andersonville Prison, where he spent 9 months before being paroled. He died at Montrose, Lee Co, IA Jul 26, 1936. Laura Adelaide "Addie" SAWYER, wife of Silas N. SAWYER was born Apr 25, 1846 to Isaac A. and Maria (BECKLEY) LEFEVRE at Montrose, Lee Co, IA. She died Mar 19, 1925 at Montrose.
