Take County Road E-17 west one-half mile from Emeline, turn north on 45th Avenue one and one-half miles. The cemetery is on the south side of the road. The Iowa Commission of Veteran's Affairs reports that 41 American Revolutionary War veterans are interred on Iowa soil. Hickory Grove Cemetery is the final resting place for two of these veterans, William Potter of the Virginia Militia and William Sinkey of the Pennsylvania Militia.
